Asen Doykin has established himself as a prominent teacher leading the piano facility at the New York Jazz Academy, Montclair Kimberley Academy, Verona Music School and his own music studio. He has taught piano master classes as a visiting teacher at Berklee College of Music in Boston, Klavierhaus in Manhattan New York, The Royal Stockholm Conservatory in Sweden, Hanover University of Music in Germany, Montclair Kimberley Academy in New Jersey and Plovdiv Music Institute in Bulgaria.
Asen Doykin is a Steinway certified piano teacher and is an official Steinway Educational Partner.
Asen was givven a certificate of excellence for his work with student Oliver Clarke, who won second place at the 2024 Piano Composition Competition. Asen was awarded Top Teacher at the 2024 edition of the Crescendo International Music Competition. At the 2023 American Protege Music Competition Asen was awarded a certificate of recognition for his work with his students Sanvi Jain and Amelia Kohart, who placed 2nd and 3rd in their age category. Both students were selected to perform at the 2023 Carnegie Hall recital. At the 2020 American Protege Music Competition Asen was awarded a certificate of recognition for his work with his student Colin Pennigton, who placed 2nd in his age category. Colin was selected to perform at the 2021 Carnegie Hall recital. Asen was awarded a certificate of recognition at the 2019 International Maestro Competition for his work with Max Radzyminski, who won 1st prize at the related age category. On the 2019 edition of the Crescendo Youth Competition in New York, Asen’s pupil Oliver Clarke won 2nd place in his age category. Asen’s student Jake Sasfai won 1st place at the 2014 Princeton Steinway Society Jazz Competition. At the 2013 New Jersey Student Composition Competition, Asen’s student Aria Hadjipetkov was awarded first place.
Thru out the years Asen Doykin’s students have graduated from his piano program and have been accepted to some of the most prestigious academic institutions such as Harvard University, Columbia University, Berklee College of Music and The Julliard School.
Asen's teaching style and approach has been refined through more than twenty years of experience. Equally comfortable with an array of piano repertoire, from classical to pop, jazz, Broadway and even film scoring. Asen has an individual touch that is tailored to the skill level and age of each of his students. His teaching style effortlessly combines the process of learning new piano pieces with the student acquiring technical and theoretical knowledge of the music.
